water baptism

When Jesus invited people to follow Him they came and confessed their sins and were baptized (Mark 16:16). Water baptism was a public statement of a Believer’s choice to turn from their sins to God and from death to life (Romans 6:3,4). It is a step of obedience that Peter made clear when he said “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins...” (Acts 2:38).
